In an investigation launched in Sivas regarding social media posts about planned attacks on schools, it was determined that the content in question was false, and the suspect who made the posts was quickly apprehended. The Sivas Governorate announced that provocative posts made after the attacks in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş are being meticulously examined, that high school student E.A., born in 2009, was taken into custody, and that citizens should only rely on official statements.

Teams that took action following posts on social media about potential attacks on schools in Sivas quickly identified and detained the suspect. The Governorship stated that the posts in question were unfounded and called on citizens to follow official announcements.

STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNORSHIP

In a statement made by the Sivas Governorship, it was reported that content suggesting possible attacks on schools across the province was shared on some social media accounts on April 15, 2026. It was stated that the posts in question were meticulously evaluated following the incidents in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş.

17-YEAR-OLD SUSPECT APPREHENDED QUICKLY

As a result of the investigation initiated by the police units, the identity of E.A., who was determined to have made the post, was identified. The suspect, who was found to be born in 2009 and a 10th-grade student, was captured at his residence and detained upon the instruction of the Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

WARNING ISSUED 

The Governorship emphasized that unfounded posts circulating on social media, which could cause fear and panic in society, should not be trusted, and requested that only official statements be taken into account.

The statement also noted that law enforcement and relevant units are on duty 24/7 to maintain peace and security across the province.
