A huge sinkhole formed in front of Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage's $10.5 million mansion in Malibu due to heavy rains and coastal erosion. The famous actor, unable to enter his home, said he had started staying in hotels, adding, "I'm kind of homeless right now."
One of Hollywood's world-famous actors, Nicolas Cage, this time drew attention not with the films he starred in, but with the unfortunate event he experienced. The giant collapse that occurred in front of his $10.5 million mansion on the seafront in Malibu forced the famous actor to stay away from his home. Cage, who described his situation at an event he attended, explained that he had been staying in hotels for a while.
A 9-METER SINKHOLE FORMED IN FRONT OF HIS MANSION
Heavy rains and ocean waves that hit Malibu on September 8, 2026, caused coastal erosion, leading to a major collapse in the area where Nicolas Cage's mansion is located.
While a giant sinkhole of about 9 meters formed in front of the famous actor's house, the vehicle road, concrete paving, and infrastructure utilities were damaged. After the collapse, when a natural gas leak occurred, security teams cordoned off the area.
31 HOMES WERE EVACUATED
The incident affected not only Nicolas Cage's mansion but also other nearby houses. After the emergency response route to be used by sheriff and fire crews was closed, authorities took action.
The municipality declared 31 properties on the street where Cage's mansion is also located unsafe and decided to evacuate them. Thus, the famous actor was among those who could not return home.
"I'M CONSIDERED A BIT HOMELESS RIGHT NOW"
62-year-old Nicolas Cage described how his life changed after the unfortunate event at the L.A. Comic Con event he attended.
Stating that he was staying in hotels because he could not use his house in Malibu, the Oscar-winning actor summarized his situation with the words, "I'm considered a bit homeless right now."
Cage, who was previously talked about for taking part in film projects one after another to pay off his debts and improve his financial situation, is now having hard days due to the natural event that occurred in front of his multimillion-dollar mansion.
