On January 16, around 08:00, an accident occurred on Bağdat Avenue in the Kadıköy district of Istanbul, where a pediatrician, M.K. (50), struck Gizem Demirci (22) as she was crossing the road after leaving her home for work. The young girl, who was seriously injured, lost her life after a two-day struggle in intensive care at the hospital. RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROLAfter the accident, M.K. was taken into custody and was released under judicial control by the court. Meanwhile, the moment of the accident was captured by security cameras. FAMILY AND RELATIVES OVERWHELMED WITH TEARSThe funeral of Gizem Demirci, who lost her life, was held yesterday at the Boğaziçi Mosque in Gülsuyu Neighborhood, following the noon prayer, and she was laid to rest at Başıbüyük Cemetery. The young girl's family and relatives were overwhelmed with tears at the funeral. STRIKING CLAIM FROM HER BROTHER-IN-LAW: CHECK EDS RECORDSGizem Demirci's brother-in-law, Faruk Kandemir, stated, "Gizem left home at 07:00 as usual to go to work. When she spoke to her sister earlier, she mentioned that the avenue was very busy and that cars were coming very fast. There are images in the camera recordings. She looked to her left, saw it was clear, and then stepped onto the road, wanting to cross quickly. But the approaching vehicle was definitely very fast. The driver admits to being fast; he acknowledges it. He did not see Gizem at all. I don't believe he was looking at the road. I think he was playing with his phone. In fact, if the EDS records are checked, it will show that he had his phone in hand while driving in that direction," he said. “THEY DIDN'T EVEN KEEP THE PERSON IN CUSTODY FOR 5 HOURS”Kandemir added, "What bothers us the most is that while we were fighting for life, they didn't even keep the person in custody for 5 hours. How is this possible? A 22-year-old young girl loses her life, and they release this guy. I can't make sense of this. He admits to being fast. There are recordings, everything is there. Her mother, father, and sisters are all very upset. She was going to be an aunt in 2 months. We will fight as much as we can. As a family, we want him to receive punishment quickly."
