The disgrace inflicted on the Sultans of the Net, who became champions by defeating Brazil 3-1 in the Nations League, emerged after the final match. It was stated that the International Volleyball Federation had scripted Brazil's championship and rehearsed accordingly.
Our Women's National Volleyball Team lifted the championship trophy by defeating Brazil 3-1 in the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL) final. It emerged that the organization officials committed a great disrespect to the Sultans of the Net, who reached the top for the second time after 2023, before the final match.
VARGAS STAMP ON THE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
The Sultans of the Net, who won the championship for the second time in the organization, displayed a superior performance against Brazil in the final. Former Polish volleyball player Michal Kubiak presented the gold medals to our champion team. National volleyball player Melissa Vargas, who completed the Brazil match with 33 points, was selected as the "most valuable player" for her performance in the finals.
REHEARSAL HELD ONLY FOR BRAZIL BEFORE THE FINAL
Before the Nations League final, which ended with our national team's magnificent victory, it came to light that only the Brazil scenario was considered in the championship ceremony rehearsals held in the hall.
Former national volleyball player Esra Gümüş Kırıcı, who shared this scandalous detail on TRT Spor channels, described the biased attitude in the organization with these words:
"My impressions after the semifinal were that rehearsals were taking place in the hall. There was always a ceremony practice specifically for Brazil. Yes, the FIVB President is Brazilian, maybe there are many staff, but I think an early rehearsal was done. Today, I believe we should show this on the field and be the ones in the ceremony."

Head Coach Daniele Santarelli, one of the architects of the championship, expressed his pride in his players in his post-match statements and responded to criticisms directed at him.
The Italian coach stated that he is immensely proud of his players after the victory. The experienced coach, noting that there have been occasional criticisms about him, emphasized that despite everything, he always strives to do the best for Turkish volleyball.
