In the Ereğli district of Zonguldak, a suitcase and a bag containing gold left in front of the door of a woman who returned home after surgery were loaded onto a garbage truck by municipal teams, mistaking them for trash. Upon notification, police and municipal teams took action, emptied the garbage truck, and found the bag among the trash. The woman, who recovered her gold, thanked the teams.
A woman who returned home after being discharged from a hospital in the Ereğli district of Zonguldak left her suitcase and bag in front of her door, which were mistaken for trash by municipal crews and loaded onto a truck. The bag containing gold was found among the garbage through the efforts of police and municipal teams and returned to its owner.
MISTAKEN FOR TRASH AND LOADED ONTO TRUCK
The incident occurred in the Karadeniz Ereğli district. According to a report by IHA, Sevda S., who was discharged after receiving treatment at the hospital, left her suitcase and bag in front of her home.
The woman, who was reportedly recovering from surgery, briefly left the bag and suitcase to retrieve an item from her house. During this time, a garbage collection team from the Karadeniz Ereğli Municipality passing through the area mistook the suitcase and bag near the container for trash and loaded them onto the truck.
SET OUT TO FIND HER BAG
Shortly after, Sevda S. came out and noticed her belongings were missing. Unable to find them after searching the neighborhood, she learned that her bag had been taken by the garbage collection team.
Stating that her bag contained gold, house keys, and personal items, Sevda S. went to the Karadeniz Ereğli District Police Department to report the incident.
FOUND AMONG THE GARBAGE
Following the report, police teams contacted the Karadeniz Ereğli Municipality Cleaning Affairs Directorate. The garbage truck was pulled over to a suitable area and unloaded. During a search by police and municipal teams, the bag containing the gold was retrieved from the garbage and returned to its owner.
Having recovered her gold, Sevda S. thanked the police and municipal teams and recounted the incident with these words: "This was the only thing that hadn't happened to me. I had surgery and couldn't carry them, so I left the suitcase and bag by the door. I went upstairs to get something from the house. When I returned, my belongings were gone. I asked everyone in the neighborhood, but no one had seen them. Inside the bag were my gold, as well as my house key and personal items. May God be pleased with our state, our police, and our municipality. I never thought I would experience something like this."
