Turkish cardiologist Hüseyin İnce, working in Germany, successfully implemented a groundbreaking method in heart valve treatment, achieving a success that has entered the world medical literature. İnce and his team successfully placed a next-generation valve prosthesis using a minimally invasive technique in a patient with advanced tricuspid valve insufficiency. In the operation, access to the heart was achieved through the groin vein without opening the patient's chest, and the valve was placed.

Turkish doctor Hüseyin İnce, who works in Berlin, Germany, has achieved a groundbreaking success in heart valve treatment. İnce and his team successfully placed a newly developed tricuspid valve prosthesis in a patient for the first time in the world using a minimally invasive method.

OPERATION ENTERING THE MEDICAL LITERATURE

Prof. Dr. Hüseyin İnce, 54 years old, who came to Germany as a child of migrant workers from Darende district of Malatya and completed his medical education in Hamburg and Brussels, stated that they successfully applied the next-generation valve prosthesis in a patient with advanced tricuspid insufficiency. This operation, performed in 2025, was published in the European Heart Journal, gaining significant recognition in the scientific community.

SURGERY WITHOUT OPENING THE CHEST CAGE

Thanks to the new technique, access to the heart is achieved through the groin vein without opening the chest cage. This method reduces the risk of surgery and allows patients to recover more quickly.

The developed valve prosthesis can be repositioned after being placed, unlike classical methods, and can be completely removed if necessary. This feature provides a significant advantage in the treatment process.

NEW HOPE FOR HIGH-RISK PATIENTS

This method offers an important alternative for patients who could not be intervened due to surgical risks before. The technique, applied in approximately 80 patients worldwide, is seen as a hope, especially in severe cases.

The first applications of the new method in Germany were carried out at the centers where İnce works. Positive results were reported in the treated patients.

Emphasizing that he expects the new technology to reach a wider audience in the near future, İnce added that research is ongoing and that within 3-5 years, these opportunities could be available for all patients in Europe.

“DO NOT TAKE SHORTNESS OF BREATH LIGHTLY”

Prof. Dr. İnce pointed out that shortness of breath could be a sign of serious heart diseases, emphasizing that individuals experiencing this symptom should definitely consult a doctor.

İnce stated, "I especially recommend that individuals experiencing shortness of breath consult a cardiologist or their doctors because shortness of breath is not always a condition that can be explained solely by weight. Of course, excess weight can have an effect, but evaluating heart health is of great importance. Especially after the age of 60, some heart failures can be observed. The encouraging thing is that there are currently quite effective treatment options available for these conditions." he said.
