A historic operation was carried out against IPTV pirates in Belgium. As a result of the operation conducted on Saturday, 50% of those watching matches through pirated IPTV had their screens go dark. The 'dynamic blocking' application, which is the target of Super League clubs, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), and BeinSports, was implemented in Belgium. Hundreds of illegal sites and five IPTV platforms were shut down.
With a decision taken by the Belgian courts and implemented on Saturday, 50% of the screens of those watching matches via pirate IPTV went dark. The goal of Super League clubs, TFF, and BeinSport is to implement the same 'dynamic blocking' for Super League matches.
While Super League clubs, TFF, and BeinSports executives are fighting against IPTV piracy, a historic operation was carried out in Belgium. Professional football broadcasters in the country, DAZN and 12th Player, requested an operation from Belgian courts to shut down sports broadcasting and IPTV sites.
THE OPERATION WAS CARRIED OUT ON SATURDAY EVENING
The operation carried out by internet service providers while matches were being played on Saturday evening led to the closure of hundreds of illegal sites and potentially five IPTV platforms for a long time. DAZN announced the operation as "a real victory in the fight against content piracy in Belgium."
COSTS TO SERVICE PROVIDERS
It was claimed that 50% of users watching Belgian football league matches through illegal channels had their broadcasts blocked during the operation. Specifically, the costs of DNS blocking measures that prevent access to the target sites from Belgium were borne by internet service providers.
NO CONTENT ON THE SITES
The operation came to the agenda of Belgium with a court decision revealed by the L'Echo newspaper. It proved that the canceled websites were "structurally infringing and did not host any legal content."
DYNAMIC BLOCKING
This brand new process, referred to as "dynamic blocking" in Belgium, also eliminated "mirror" or "duplicate" sites that allow matches to be watched via IPTV.
