A urine test came back positive, indicating the pilot was under the influence of drugs during the flight. The pilot confessed to carrying drugs for the third time, doing so for 12,000 dollars, and keeping clean urine on hand to pass the tests.
A 39-year-old pilot, identified as MSO, working on Malaysia Airlines' Kuala Lumpur-Jakarta flight, was caught at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport with a large amount of drugs found in his suitcase.
FOUND IN BOTH THE SUITCASE AND THE CARRY-ON BAG
The incident occurred on July 28 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The suitcase of Malaysia Airlines pilot MSO, who arrived from Kuala Lumpur to Jakarta on duty, was deemed suspicious during the X-ray inspection by customs officers. Searches in the suitcase uncovered 70,114 narcotic pills weighing a total of 25.2 kilograms in 14 large packages, and 4 grams of methamphetamine in his carry-on bag.
URINE TEST CAME BACK POSITIVE
The urine test also revealed that the pilot had used drugs. Authorities reported that the pilot was assessed to be under the influence of these substances during the flight.
CONFESSED TO CARRYING DRUGS FOR THE THIRD TIME
In the investigation, the pilot, who was questioned, stated that he brought the drugs to Jakarta on the instructions of an individual, and in return, he was promised 50,000 Malaysian ringgit (approximately 12,000 dollars). Police announced that the pilot had carried drugs for the third time.
CARRIED CLEAN URINE TO PASS TESTS
Police determined that the pilot had carried pre-collected clean urine in a bottle to pass sudden drug tests. It was learned that during the suspect's interrogation, he said, "If there was a sudden test, I would use this."
