A person who introduced himself as a government official working at various levels and deceived dozens of women with the promise of marriage was caught in India. The suspect named Nath had established a widespread fraud network targeting particularly vulnerable women. The incident came to light after a woman in Cuttack city complained to the cybercrime unit. The woman, who had become a member of a marriage website after losing her husband, was one of Nath's victims. The fraudster contacted his victims by impersonating different government official identities such as a railway employee or a tax inspector. The suspect, who applied long-term emotional manipulation, secretly recorded the victims' private images and used them for blackmail, demanding large amounts of money and valuable items. As a result of the investigation, it was revealed that Nath had victimized at least 15 women, committed similar crimes in many states, and had arrest warrants against him. It was also discovered that the suspect was actually married and had two children. Police officials stated that this case demonstrates the seriousness of marriage fraud and warned the public to be cautious on online dating platforms. They emphasized the need to be careful and vigilant against similar crimes. This incident highlights the prevalence of marriage fraud in India and exposes the emotional and financial damages suffered by the victims. Authorities announced that stricter measures will be taken to combat such crimes.
