A member of the DEM Party, Hatimoğulları, openly threatened:

05.01.2025 18:00

The co-chair of the DEM Party, Tülay Hatimoğulları, made threatening remarks regarding the Imralı talks. Hatimoğulları stated, "Either a positive breakthrough will occur and we will build peace, or negative disruptions will happen and everywhere will be like Gaza. Therefore, we want to address the state authorities from here. The meeting that took place in Imralı is not enough; the doors of Imralı must be opened."

The Democratic Regions Party (DBP) held a public meeting program in Diyarbakır. The program was attended by Tülay Hatimoğulları, Co-Chair of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party, DBP Co-Chairs Keskin Bayındır and Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar, Ayşe Serra Bucak Küçük, Co-Chair of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, DEM Party members of parliament, and municipal co-chairs.

HATIMOĞULLARI'S IMPLICIT THREAT FROM THE DEM PARTY

Hatimoğulları referred to the talks held in Imralı. Making threatening statements, Hatimoğulları claimed that if PKK leader Öcalan is not released, everywhere will be like Gaza.

"IF THE IMRALI DOORS ARE NOT OPENED, EVERYWHERE WILL BE LIKE GAZA"

Hatimoğulları said: "In this historical break, either a positive break will occur and we will build peace, or negative breaks will happen and everywhere will be like Gaza. Therefore, we want to address the state mind from here. This meeting in Imralı is not enough; the Imralı doors must be opened, and the physical conditions must be provided for Öcalan to work for peace, not just for peace in Turkey but for peace in the entire Middle East as well. I want to emphasize one more point. This process is an important process, and we are all following it with great excitement.

"LET'S NOT FALL INTO COMPLACENCY"

But let’s not fall into complacency. We must never fall into a situation that weakens our democratic struggle by saying, 'Things are being resolved, peace is coming.' If the Imralı doors are opened today, it is thanks to the struggle of you, our esteemed people. The way for these talks to evolve into a peace process is for you, our esteemed people, to carry out your actions, activities, words, thoughts, and feelings in the most organized way in the squares and fields on a democratic ground, and we can pave the way for this.

If this is going to be a process, if a peace process is to be built, it is necessary for you, our esteemed people, to multiply and develop the existing struggle for the peace process to conclude in favor of the gains of the Kurdish people. Therefore, without falling into complacency, we will continue our work with revolutionary movements, socialists, democrats, intellectuals, writers, and in short, with every group that says, 'These lands have been soaked in blood, enough is enough, we want peace,' not only in Kurdistan but throughout Turkey. If you do this, we can win together on behalf of all peoples.
