An incident at the Worlds of Fun theme park in Kansas City has reignited discussions about discrimination. A 37-year-old Muslim woman, Hadil Alqarini, claimed she was removed from a roller coaster due to her headscarf and faced racist treatment. The incident occurred during the Halloween Haunt celebrations. Alqarini was stopped by a park employee while trying to board the roller coaster named Prowler with her 9-year-old son, Moe. The employee asked Alqarini to remove her headscarf, citing the park's policy against loose clothing. Alqarini, who has been visiting theme parks in the U.S. for 24 years, stated that she had never encountered such an issue before and contested the situation. During the incident, some visitors and other employees also supported Alqarini, but the staff member insisted on their decision. Following the incident, Alqarini first approached the local police department and then filed an official complaint with the park. The management of Worlds of Fun issued a statement apologizing for the incident, claiming that the employee did not have racist intentions and was merely being "overly cautious." The park management stated, "Worlds of Fun is an inclusive and welcoming place for people of all races and religions," indicating that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding. Alqarini was offered free tickets and fast pass cards for her next visit, but she declined the offer and announced that she would not return to the park. This incident has reignited debates in the U.S. regarding the use of religious symbols in public spaces and issues of discrimination. Civil rights organizations emphasized that theme parks should review their staff training to prevent similar incidents from occurring. Local authorities announced that they would investigate the incident and take necessary measures. Meanwhile, solidarity messages began to be shared on social media with the hashtag #JusticeForHadil.
