Two people lost their lives in two armed attacks carried out three days apart on the same street in Kağıthane, Istanbul. After Eser Aktaş, who was shot in his car in the first attack, car wash operator Tolga Derebaşı also became the target of motorcycle-riding assailants. While the use of similar methods in both murders draws attention, police are investigating whether there is a connection between the incidents.

Two people lost their lives in two armed attacks carried out three days apart on the same street in Istanbul's Kağıthane district. In the latest incident, car wash operator Tolga Derebaşı (28) died as a result of gunfire opened by motorcycle-mounted attackers. On October 21, on the same street, Eser Aktaş (44) had also been shot dead in his car by motorcycle-mounted suspects. Police are investigating whether there is a connection between the two attacks.

THEY POURED BULLETS INTO THE CAR WASH OPERATOR

The incident occurred around 18:00 on Saturday on Hendek Street in the Hamidiye Neighborhood of Kağıthane. According to the allegation, 2 helmeted suspects who came to the car wash business on the street by motorcycle opened fire in succession at the business owner, Tolga Derebaşı.

Derebaşı, 28, who was hit by two bullets in his stomach and two in his leg, collapsed to the ground with severe injuries. The attackers fled the scene on the motorcycle they had come on.

Following reports from people nearby who heard the gunshots, police and medical teams were dispatched to the area. Derebaşı, who received first aid at the scene, was taken to hospital by ambulance. However, the young operator could not be saved despite all the doctors' efforts.

THREE DAYS EARLIER, ANOTHER PERSON HAD ALSO BEEN KILLED ON THE SAME STREET

The attack in which Derebaşı was killed brought another murder committed on the same street three days earlier back to the agenda.

On October 21, Eser Aktaş (44), sitting in his parked car with license plate 34 DRC 369 on Hendek Street, had been the target of motorcycle-mounted attackers.

Aktaş, who was wounded in the chest and hand as a result of gunfire from a moving motorcycle, had lost his life despite interventions at the hospital where he was taken.

THEY HAD ABANDONED THE MOTORCYCLE AND WEAPON AND FLED

After the first murder, police teams launched an investigation and found the motorcycle with license plate 41 ABD 024 used by the attackers, the weapon, and some clothing on Hicazkar Street in Kağıthane's Merkez Neighborhood. It was determined that the suspects had left the items in front of an electrical panel and fled.

Police teams had taken security camera footage in the area under review in order to identify the attackers and determine their escape routes.

IS THERE A CONNECTION BETWEEN THE TWO MURDERS?

In both murders that occurred three days apart on the same street, the attackers' use of motorcycles drew attention. In the first incident, Eser Aktaş was targeted in his car, and in the second incident, Tolga Derebaşı was targeted in the car wash shop he operated.

Security teams are investigating whether the two attacks, carried out with similar methods, are connected to each other. Within the scope of the investigation, the possibility of an organized crime connection is also being evaluated.

THERE IS UNREST IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

The deaths of two people in armed attacks within a short time on Hendek Street caused concern among neighborhood residents.

While police teams continue their efforts to catch the suspects who carried out the latest attack, the investigation launched to determine the reasons behind the two murders continues.
