It has been revealed by the genetic maps of 30 children who underwent DNA testing that the reproductive cells sold at exorbitant prices at a clinic in Northern Cyprus under the promise of a "Danish blonde donor" were supplied from Turkey by an illegal gang led by Hacer T.
New details have emerged in the investigation into the gang that illegally profited from the human body, revealing the scale of the scandal. The reproductive cells that dozens of families selected from a catalog and purchased by paying thousands of pounds for "blonde and Danish" were determined by genetic tests to belong to Turkish women. It was learned that the families could only realize the terrible scam as the children grew.
New information obtained in the operation carried out by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the organization led by Hacer T., who illegally sold women's reproductive cells, showed that the scandal crossed borders and reached as far as the United Kingdom.
"IT WAS BOUGHT FROM DENMARK" THEY SAID, BUT...
According to the news in Sabah, a company in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus that illegally collected eggs from women in Turkey claimed that the reproductive cells were imported from Cryos International, the world's largest donor bank located in Denmark. However, the judicial investigation and genetic tests documented that the eggs were actually supplied by the illegal organization led by Hacer T. in Turkey.
THEY SELECTED PHYSICAL FEATURES AND INTELLIGENCE LEVEL FROM THE CATALOG
Allegedly, a 39-year-old British woman named Rachel, who had dreamed of becoming a mother for years and spent thousands of pounds in the process, applied as a last resort to the IVF center in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The British couple examined the catalog provided to them by the center and evaluated the reproductive cell donors' medical histories, educational status, intelligence levels, and especially physical features such as hair and eye color one by one. The couple made their choice wanting their future child to have Danish genes.
SUSPICION INCREASED AS THE CHILD GREW
After the procedure, the young woman became pregnant and gave birth, taking into her arms the baby they named Jonah. The overjoyed family experienced the first great shock of their lives as their baby grew. The mother, suspecting that the child was not blonde as in the catalog they had chosen from as he grew, applied to a genetic laboratory and had a DNA test done. With the official report from the laboratory, the bitter truth was documented: it was confirmed that Danish donor cells had not been used for the child.
GLOBAL DONOR BANK: WE NEVER GAVE EGGS TO THAT CLINIC
Realizing they had been defrauded, the family did not let the matter go and contacted Denmark-based Cryos International, the world's largest donor bank. The family had the egg codes given to them queried with the institution and faced a second shock. Examining its records, the global donor bank officially stated that no egg deliveries had ever been made to the clinic in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
THE GENETIC MAP OF 30 CHILDREN TURNED OUT TO BE "TURKEY"
After the scandal was reflected in the press and the legal process began, dozens of foreign families treated at the same clinic with similar promises also requested genetic tests for their children. It was understood that all the reproductive cells sold to families at exorbitant prices with the promise of a Danish or Scandinavian donor were fake. As a result of extensive tests, it was confirmed that the biological origins of at least 30 children were Turkey.
