A new era has begun for cash withdrawals from ATMs.

A new era has begun for cash withdrawals from ATMs.

01.01.2025 12:30

Banks have changed the cash withdrawal limits from ATMs as of January 1, 2025. The current limit of 10,000 lira will be increased to up to 20,000 lira.

The changes made in cash withdrawal transactions from ATMs started on January 1st. Currently, banks that apply a limit of 15,000 TL will increase this amount to 20,000 TL. It is expected that banks with a limit of 10,000 TL will raise it to 15,000 TL.

QR CODE LIMITS HAD INCREASED

On the other hand, the limits for cash withdrawals using QR codes from ATMs had recently been increased. With the new applications, customers will be able to meet their cash needs more quickly and easily.

ATMs DO NOT ACCEPT THESE BILLS

Despite the increase in exchange rates causing the highest banknote in Turkey to drop to around 5.5 dollars, the Central Bank continues to refrain from circulating 500 and 1000 TL banknotes. This situation has led to significant changes in ATMs, as banks struggling to keep the machines stocked every day have found a solution in transitioning to a single type of currency usage.

In nearly all ATMs used by private banks, the use of 10 and 20 TL banknotes has been halted, and these slots are being filled with 200 TL notes. Additionally, in recent days, many banks have deemed the 10 and 20 TL slots insufficient, closing off the use of 50 and 100 TL notes, allowing only 200 TL to be withdrawn from ATMs.
