MINISTRY TOOK ACTION FOLLOWING COMPLAINTS
According to a report by Türkiye newspaper, uncertainties regarding the weight of products in online food orders have been brought to the agenda of the Ministry of Trade.
In the letter sent by the Ministry to the relevant federations, it was stated that weight information is included for some ready-to-eat products containing red and white meat, while for others this information is incomplete or not shared at all.
WEIGHT INFORMATION TO BE INCLUDED FOR HAMBURGERS, DÖNER, AND MEATBALLS
The Ministry requested that the amount of meat used in the online sale of products such as hamburgers, döner, İskender, and meatballs be specified accurately and completely.
This is intended to allow consumers to learn how much meat the product they will purchase contains before placing an order.
WARNING SENT TO RELEVANT FEDERATIONS
It was reminded that in distance sales, informing consumers clearly and understandably about the basic features of the product is a legal obligation.
The Ministry of Trade requested that the necessary work be completed urgently to ensure that weight information for red and white meat in ready-to-eat foods offered for sale on digital platforms is shared completely.
