New footage has emerged regarding the incident in Konya where two people lost their lives due to the collapse of a four-story building. In the footage, it can be seen that the tiles on the walls of the fish restaurant on the ground floor began to fall before the building collapsed.
On January 24th, around 20:00, the Taşoluk Apartment, which consists of 7 shops and 14 apartments in 2 blocks and has a total of 4 floors including the ground floor, collapsed with a loud noise in the Selçuklu district of Konya. New footage related to the incident has emerged.
FIRST, THE TILES OF THE RESTAURANT FELL
It was revealed that the sounds heard before the building collapsed started with the tiles falling from the wall of the fish restaurant located on the ground floor. Those moments were recorded second by second by the employees with a mobile phone camera.
EMPLOYEES PRESSED THE BELLS AND ENSURED EVACUATION
Upon this, Ali El Hüseyin (20) and Abrurrahman Keji (17), who worked at the fish restaurant, pressed the doorbells of the apartments on the upper floor, ensuring that many people who were at home evacuated the building at that moment. Shortly after, the building collapsed. Following the notification, a total of 962 personnel and 216 vehicles from AFAD, fire department, police, gendarmerie, 112 Emergency, UMKE, Red Crescent, AKUT, and NGOs were dispatched to the address under the coordination of the Ministry of Interior. As a result of the assessment made by the established crisis center, it was determined that 79 people resided in the building. Those remaining in the building were contacted one by one by phone.
5 PEOPLE WERE TRAPPED UNDER THE RUBBLE
Investigations revealed that the following family members of Syrian nationality were trapped under the rubble: Muhammed Cedan (24), Halid El Cedan (55), Ahmet Muhammed Cedan (23), Turki Muhammed, and his wife Emine Mustafa.
3 PEOPLE WERE RESCUED ALIVE
With the efforts of the teams, Muhammed Cedan and Halid El Cedan were rescued alive after 5 hours. In the 7th hour, Ahmet Muhammed Cedan was also rescued alive from under the rubble. It was reported that the 3 individuals receiving treatment at Meram Medical Faculty were in good health.
THE COUPLE'S BODIES WERE SENT TO SYRIA
The lifeless bodies of Turki Muhammed and his wife Emine Mustafa were recovered from under the rubble. The bodies of the 2 deceased individuals were sent to Syria for burial after the autopsy last night.
4 PEOPLE WERE DETAINED
As part of the investigation opened by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office of Konya, 4 people were detained, including 2 business owners and 2 property owners. A detailed examination was conducted on the rubble of the collapsed building by a team of expert witnesses in architecture, geology, civil engineering, electrical engineering, and occupational safety to determine the cause of the collapse, and samples were taken. A report will be prepared by the expert team based on the laboratory examination of the samples and submitted to the investigation file. The detention periods of the suspects were extended for the purpose of collecting relevant evidence.
