A new process statement from the Hatimoğulları: The iron fist inside the velvet glove continues to work.

A new process statement from the Hatimoğulları: The iron fist inside the velvet glove continues to work.

11.01.2025 18:40

Referring to the process that began with the call of MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları stated, "We wanted to be hopeful about the resolution of the Kurdish issue. While these discussions are ongoing, our municipal administration and co-chairs were detained yesterday in an operation, just like in the Mediterranean Municipality. This shows that the iron fist within the velvet glove continues to operate."

DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları made a statement in front of the municipality after the detention of the co-chairs of the Mediterranean Municipality and 4 municipal council members in Mersin.

"WE WILL NEVER ACCEPT THIS COUP"

Hatimoğulları stated that it was impossible to accept the detentions, saying, "This trustee mentality has already prepared scenarios regarding the Mediterranean Municipality for months. This trustee mindset is practically staging a coup against the will of the people. We have known coups in Turkey's history through the boots, tanks, and cannons of soldiers. But the AKP has added another dark page to the black pages of Turkey's history," she said. Stating that the government is using its political power, Hatimoğulları said, "By turning the judiciary into a crutch, it has carried out a coup with its judiciary, police, and its own political power. We absolutely do not accept this coup against the Mediterranean. This coup mentality should see the people here and read the feelings in the eyes of this people," she said.

"DESPITE YOUR TWO APPOINTMENTS OF TRUSTEES, WE WON AGAIN WITH THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE"

Expressing that "the Kurds have come this far by resisting," Hatimoğulları continued her words as follows: "We neither bowed to the military junta nor to those from the palace who tried to govern us, who speak of peace with one side of their tongue while implementing a trustee mentality with the other, trying to intimidate us with detentions. We have come this far by resisting and we will continue to resist. This government, which discriminates between those who vote in Konya and those who vote in the Mediterranean Municipality, should hear that despite your two appointments of trustees to these municipalities, we have won again with the will of the people, which means that this people will not kneel before trustees and authoritarianism."

Strong Reaction from DEM Party Co-Chair Hatimoğulları to Detentions

"THE IRON FIST INSIDE THE VELVET GLOVE CONTINUES TO WORK"

Referring to the process that began with MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli shaking hands with the DEM Party Group on October 1, Hatimoğulları said, "We wanted to be hopeful about the solution to the Kurdish issue. While these discussions continue, our municipal administration and co-chairs were detained yesterday in an operation, just like in the Mediterranean Municipality. This means that the iron fist inside the velvet glove continues to work. You will not be able to take away the people's right to hope in any way. But it should be known that while you are usurping the will of the municipalities and the people, the voice of peace cannot be raised," she said.

"EVEN IF THE GOVERNMENT SAYS 'I AM NOT MAKING PEACE' TOMORROW, WE WILL FIGHT FOR PEACE"

Hatimoğulları stated that they want peace more than anyone else and noted: "We have fought by paying the heaviest prices because we want peace, and we will continue to do so. Even if this government comes out tomorrow and says 'I am not making peace,' we will continue to fight for peace. Our belief in peace is that strong. But let us also express that while trying to grow the hope for peace in Ankara, we do not accept this kind of usurpation of will. On one hand, you will speak of peace, and on the other hand, bombs will rain down on Rojava. This cannot be accepted either. We want to address the government from the Mediterranean Municipality and clearly state that we do not accept these practices while you come out with words of peace."

"AS WE SAY PEACE, THEY POUR KEROSENE ON PEACE"

Claiming that "the public's faith in the government regarding the solution to the Kurdish issue has been lost," Tülay Hatimoğulları said, "Our people say, 'They talk about peace on one hand, while on the other hand, they detain our municipal co-chairs and delegation. Our hope for peace never diminishes, but trust in this government does not form in this way.' We receive this message from our people. This message has a place above our heads. The government and those in the palace must think about all this while carrying out this operation against the Mediterranean Municipality. As we say peace, they pour kerosene on peace," she said.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Selahattin Demirtaş, the former co-chair of the HDP, who is imprisoned in Edirne Prison, sent a message on social media after the DEM Party delegation visited him, stating that he fully supports Abdullah Öcalan and sent an implicit message to Kandil, which is trying to undermine the process. Demirtaş said, "Everyone who speaks on these issues should stay away from threats, blackmail, derogatory language, and provocative statements."
