The incident in Virginia, USA, has deeply shaken the healthcare community. A 26-year-old nurse, Erin Strotman, working in the neonatal unit of Henrico Doctors' Hospital, was arrested on charges of abusing infants. In the past year and a half, unexplained bone fractures have been detected in 7 infants at the hospital. In the summer of 2023, 4 infants were subjected to violence, and in the last two months of 2024, 3 more infants were affected. Following the increase in incidents, the hospital decided to close the neonatal unit on Christmas Eve. The father of one of the assaulted infants, Noah, Dominique Hackey, shared his experience: "A week after our twins were born, a fracture was detected in Noah's leg. This was intentional child abuse. I blame myself for not being able to protect my son." In response to the incident, the hospital management increased security cameras and intensified staff training. In a statement from the management, it was said, "We were shocked by this development. Our priority is the safety of our patients." The police are investigating the connection of the suspect nurse to other cases. The investigation is ongoing in a comprehensive manner.
