The alternative raise models prepared by the economic management for pensions have reached the final stage. In addition to the inflation difference, welfare share and flat raise options will also be evaluated. While improvements covering all retirees are being focused on, increasing the holiday bonus to 5,000 lira is also on the agenda...

In these days when millions of retirees are locked onto the rate of the raise to be made in January, a critical stage has been reached in the work carried out in Ankara. The alternative raise package meticulously prepared by the economic administration and the AK Party group is expected to be comprehensively evaluated at the Economic Coordination Council (EKK) to be convened in the coming days.

WELFARE SHARE AND FLAT-RATE INCREASE

Among the options on the table, the welfare share to be provided in addition to the actual inflation increase and the possibilities for a flat-rate increase rank first. At the EKK meeting, the burden that alternative raise models will impose on the budget and the cost tables will be addressed one by one. With the completion of the preparations, the final framework of the improvement that will cover all retirees will become clear.

EXPECTATION OF AN INCREASE IN HOLIDAY BONUSES

In addition to salary increases, an increase in the bonuses retirees receive on both holidays is among the strong items on the table. It is being considered to raise the Ramadan and Eid al-Adha bonuses, which were increased from 3 thousand lira to 4 thousand lira in 2025 and kept at the same level in 2026, to 5 thousand lira with the new regulation.

ERDOĞAN WILL MAKE THE FINAL DECISION

The alternative models prepared by the economic administration, also taking budget balances into account, will be submitted to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's discretion after the talks at the EKK. The details of the regulation aimed at raising the lowest retiree pension to around 30 thousand lira are expected to be announced to the public by President Erdoğan.
