The National Security Council meeting, chaired by President Erdoğan, held at Beştepe has concluded. Following the meeting, the Presidency of Communications published a 5-item statement regarding the decisions made. The statement published by the Presidency of Communications is as follows:The National Security Council convened on October 3, 2024, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. During the meeting; COUNTER-TERRORISM1. Information was presented to the council regarding operations carried out with determination, decisiveness, and success both domestically and abroad against all kinds of threats and dangers to our national unity and integrity, primarily the terrorist organizations PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETÖ, and ISIS, as well as recent international developments. 2. It was emphasized that activities aimed at neutralizing terrorist organizations based in Syrian territory will continue uninterrupted, and no plans or fait accompli initiatives that could jeopardize our national security will be allowed; efforts to resolve the conflict in the country in line with the interests and expectations of our region and the Syrian people will be increased. 3. Our determination to advance our cooperation in the fight against terrorist organizations that pose a common threat to our countries, especially PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, with our neighbor Iraq has been reaffirmed; the importance we attribute to the security, peace, and prosperity of the brotherly Iraqi people has been emphasized once again. GENOCIDE IN GAZA AND ISRAEL4. It has been stated that, in addition to Turkey's resolute efforts to stop the genocide that the Palestinian people have been subjected to for a year in front of the eyes of the whole world, international efforts should also be increased and sustained to ensure a lasting ceasefire and peace in Palestine without delay. In relation to preventing Israel's attacks, which aim to spread the conflicts to the Middle East and direct them beyond Palestinian territories, a call has been made for actors in positions of responsibility, especially the United Nations Security Council, to take action as soon as possible. In the face of Israel's inhumane attacks, it has been confirmed that Turkey will stand by the brotherly people and government of Lebanon, alongside its nation and state. The declaration of the United Nations Secretary-General as an undesirable person and the prohibition of his entry into the country has been condemned as the latest example of Israel's lawlessness. DEVELOPMENTS IN THE MEDITERRANEAN AND AEGEAN5. It has been noted that Turkey will not allow the abuse of its sincere approach and efforts to develop cooperation grounds for establishing lasting stability and peace in the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas; it has been emphasized that acting with common sense is the best choice. Respectfully submitted for the public's information.
