Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki, who reacted to the cancellation of the diploma of İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was detained yesterday morning, burned his diplomas in front of the crowd, stating, "No diploma holds any value anymore."
İstanbul University announced that the diploma of İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu was revoked on the grounds of "absence" and "clear error." The documents regarding the decision will be sent to the prosecutor's office and YÖK. While the repercussions of this incident continue, İmamoğlu was detained yesterday as part of an operation related to terrorism and corruption.
HE BURNED HIS DIPLOMAS
One of the most interesting supporters of İmamoğlu, who is currently being interrogated in custody, was Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki. Ömer Eşki burned three different diplomas he received from Dokuz Eylul University Textile Engineering, Yaşar University Energy Law, and Ege University International Relations departments.
"NO DIPLOMA HAS ANY VALIDITY LEFT"
In a statement regarding the issue, Eşki said, "They revoked Ekrem President's diploma without authority. Since such a decision has been made, no diploma has any validity left. My party leader is Özgür Özel, and my presidential candidate is Ekrem İmamoğlu. Ekrem President, my General Chairman Özgür, and I would serve time in prison for the Republic of Turkey. If necessary, I would do it too," he stated.
