Presidential Chief Advisor and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Legal Policies Board, Mehmet Uçum, made striking assessments about the structure of the FETÖ organization in an analysis he penned regarding FETÖ. Arguing that FETÖ can no longer be evaluated merely as a religious organization, Uçum stated that the group conducts activities through espionage, disinformation, and external connections, and emphasized that no leniency should be allowed in the fight against FETÖ.

"OVERT STRUCTURE COLLAPSED"
In his article, Uçum argued that FETÖ's overt organizational capacity in Turkey has been largely dismantled. However, Uçum noted that the organization tries to continue its activities through cell structures and foreign connections, stating that the structure still poses a security threat.
REMINDED OF ERDOĞAN'S WORDS
Recalling President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's previous words, "its base is worship, its middle is trade, its top is treason," Uçum stated that the organization infiltrated state institutions by exploiting religious feelings. According to Uçum, most of FETÖ's activities carried out through worship and trade have been ended, but the structure now operates with more covert methods.
"CONNECTED TO IMPERIALIST POWERS"
In one of the most striking sections of the article, Uçum pointed to FETÖ's international connections. Uçum argued that the organization is part of a consortium formed by imperialist powers, emphasizing allegations of relations particularly with the USA and some European countries.
WARNING ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND DISINFORMATION
Mehmet Uçum also drew attention to FETÖ's disinformation activities on social media. Uçum claimed that the organization conducts influence operations against Turkey through foreign media outlets and digital platforms, stating that cybersecurity and the fight against disinformation need to be strengthened.

In his article, Uçum also touched on debates about those affected by decree-laws, opposing demands for amnesty or execution regulations for FETÖ members. Uçum argued that these attempts are carried out through "exploitation of emotions," stating that the state should not compromise in its fight against FETÖ.
"THE STRUGGLE MUST CONTINUE DETERMINEDLY"
Uçum acknowledged that there are occasionally criticisms of judicial processes but stated this does not mean the state is showing weakness in its fight. Uçum noted that the struggle must continue until FETÖ is completely eliminated, and similar structures should also be combated with special methods within the legal framework.
