Striking claim about the deposed leader Assad: He may be a Russian citizen.

13.12.2024 19:11

It has emerged that Assad, who fled his country and began a life in exile following the collapse of the 61-year Baath regime, may be a Russian citizen.

The 61-year bloody rule of the Ba'ath Party, which came to power in Syria in 1963, collapsed with the outbreak of the civil war triggered by the violent suppression of popular movements that began with demands for freedom in 2011, as the capital Damascus fell out of the regime's control. Notable statements have come from Russia regarding how Assad's life in exile, after fleeing to Russia, will continue. Alexei Zhuravlev, Deputy Chairman of the Defense Committee of the Russian Duma, stated that Assad could become a Russian citizen. On the other hand, due to the billions of dollars he took with him, many scenarios have been produced regarding Assad's potential assistance in the reconstruction of the Donbass region.

RUSSIAN CITIZENSHIP OFFERED TO BASHAR ASSAD

Alexei Zhuravlev, Deputy Chairman of the Defense Committee of the Russian Duma, stated, "If Yanukovych managed to obtain Russian citizenship, why shouldn't it be granted to Assad, who has done a lot for Russia despite the negative attitude?"

ASSAD SHOULD HELP RUSSIA

According to a report by Russian Today, Russian MP Dmitry Kuznetsov said that Assad should assist in the reconstruction of the Donbass region. Kuznetsov stated, "I think Mr. Assad and his family should engage in charitable work and support the reconstruction of one of the war-damaged areas of Donbass. Mr. Assad could also move into one of the newly built houses in Mariupol."

HE HAS A FORTUNE CLOSE TO 2 BILLION DOLLARS

It was reported that after the successful revolutionary movement in Syria, President Vladimir Putin decided to grant asylum to Assad and his family. It was revealed that Assad took 135 billion dollars with him while fleeing, and it was claimed that the Assad family has a fortune close to 2 billion dollars with their properties in Moscow and London.
