Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump's praise for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has remained a topic of discussion; writer Ali Rıza Demircan has warned that such compliments could be a form of enemy praise and should not be trusted.
Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump's praise for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has taken an important place in Turkey's foreign policy agenda; Ali Rıza Demircan, in his column on mirathaber, pointed out not only Trump's compliments but also NATO Secretary General Rutte's description of Erdoğan as an "incredible leader."
"IS AMERICA NOT THE CRUEL AMERICA WE KNOW?"
In his article, Demircan argued that Erdoğan is the "greatest statesman" in the last century of Turkish history, while warning that Trump's praises could be enemy flattery and should not be trusted. Reminding of issues such as the U.S. support for Israel and its stance towards the terrorist organization PKK, Demircan posed the question, "Is America not the cruel America we know?"
"ERDOĞAN'S CAUTIOUS APPROACH IS POSITIVE"
The author, who views President Erdoğan's cautious approach to Trump's praises positively, criticized Erdoğan's statement, "I trust my friend Trump's support in ending the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza."
The author claimed that if the U.S. puts pressure on Israel, the situation in Gaza could change; otherwise, if the oppression by Israel continues, the bill would be presented to Turkey and Erdoğan.
On the other hand, Demircan, who argues that Turkey should be the leader of the Islamic world, stated that the way to achieve this goal is through unity. He emphasized that Erdoğan should make good use of this historic opportunity, warning, "Do not be an instrument of the plans of the cruel Americans and Israelis. Do not trust their friendship."
"TURKEY SHOULD BE THE LEADER OF THE TURKIC WORLD"
Finally, the author expressed that for Turkey to be an effective world power, it must be the leader of the Islamic and Turkic worlds, stating that the way to achieve this goal is through unity and Gaza.
