The heavy rainfall that was effective throughout the day in Denizli province turned into severe hail in some districts. While the precipitation served as vital water for the soil in most regions, the sudden hailstorm in Çameli caused damage to agricultural areas.

Hail that suddenly appeared yesterday afternoon in Denizli and intensified in a short time, blanketed the Kolak neighborhood of the Çameli district in white. In the neighborhood, one of the district's most important production centers, greenhouses where summer tomatoes and vegetables are grown were damaged by the disaster. Dense hail masses entered the greenhouses, forming ice deposits between rows of crops. Tomato seedlings and vegetables, which were still in the development stage, were damaged both by the impact of hail stones and the sudden drop in temperature.

"OUR LABOR WENT TO WASTE IN MINUTES"

Evaluating the situation in the neighborhood after the disaster, Kolak Neighborhood Headman Yılmaz Nebiçavuşoğlu emphasized that producers are suffering great hardship. Stating that the extent of the disaster was not limited to greenhouses, Headman Nebiçavuşoğlu said, "It rained everywhere in Denizli, but in our area, the rain suddenly turned into severe hail, and the ground quickly turned white. Our greenhouses, fruit trees, and all the fruits and vegetables in open fields, which we cared for like the apple of our eye, were severely damaged. Months of labor went to waste in minutes. We expect authorities to support our producers."

DAMAGE ASSESSMENT STUDY TO BE CONDUCTED

Following the hailstorm in the region, producers have gone into a waiting period. Teams from the Çameli District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry are expected to conduct a comprehensive damage assessment in the area's greenhouses, open fields, and orchards. Producers are now awaiting support from authorities to heal their wounds.
