Eight suspects have been detained in Aydın on suspicion of killing a young man who disappeared 14 years ago. The young man's parents are among those detained.

In the Nazilli district of Aydın, eight suspects, including the mother, father, and uncle, were detained regarding the disappearance of 16-year-old Osman Aktepe in 2012.

INCOMING REPORT ACTIVATES TEAMS

Under the coordination of the Nazilli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the Aydın Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Team (JASAT) resumed work approximately nine months ago following a tip-off about the case, which had previously been closed with a non-prosecution decision due to Aktepe not being found.

Osman Aktepe's family members and individuals considered possibly linked to the incident were placed under technical and physical surveillance.

MOTHER, FATHER, AND UNCLE IN CUSTODY

Following the examination of witness statements and phone tap records, eight suspects, including the youth's mother, father, and uncle, were detained on suspicion of Aktepe's murder.

The suspects were referred to the Nazilli Courthouse after their processing at the gendarmerie.
