In Mersin, a worker named Süleyman Güner, aged 47, lost his life after falling from a tank during a fire at an oilseed processing and biodiesel production facility. Two workers were also injured in the fire, and an investigation has been launched into the incident.
A worker died and another was injured in a fire at an oilseed processing and biodiesel production facility in Mersin.
A fire broke out around 2:30 PM in the fuel tank of an oilseed processing and biodiesel production facility located in Kazanlı neighborhood, Akdeniz district. Upon notification from those nearby, numerous firefighting and medical teams were dispatched to the area.
FELL FROM THE TANK
During the fire, worker Süleyman Güner (47), who was working on top of the tank, fell from a height of approximately 20 meters and was seriously injured. Another worker, Ömer Faruk Doğan (30), also sustained a hand injury during the incident.
After initial medical intervention by health teams, the injured workers were taken to hospitals by ambulances. Süleyman Güner, who was critically injured, could not be saved despite all medical efforts.
FIREFIGHTING EFFORTS CONTINUED
While firefighting teams continued their operations at the facility to bring the fire under control, Süleyman Güner's body was taken to the morgue for an autopsy. An investigation has been initiated into the cause of the fire.
