According to The Hindu newspaper, the incident occurred in the Idukki district of Kerala. A woman named Mari, together with her 11-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter, encountered a female elephant with its calves while heading to the school bus stop.
COULD NOT SEE DUE TO DENSE FOG
Officials stated that Mari could not see the elephant due to the dense fog in the area. The woman, attacked by the female elephant, died at the scene.
It was reported that her 11-year-old son was injured in the attack, while her 15-year-old daughter, who was walking a few meters behind, escaped unharmed.
WARNINGS HAD BEEN ISSUED PREVIOUSLY
The news also mentioned that authorities had previously warned citizens about the presence of wild animals in the area and urged them to be cautious.
After the incident, security measures were increased in the region, and authorities launched an investigation.
