An access ban decision was taken regarding the X accounts belonging to the Central Headquarters and Istanbul Provincial Chairmanship of the Workers' Party of Turkey. It was alleged that the decision, which has not yet been implemented, came after the party's statements and posts concerning the 'fund swindle' allegation. TİP reacted to the decision, arguing that the intervention was aimed at freedom of expression and democratic politics.
An access ban decision has been issued regarding the X accounts belonging to the Central Headquarters and Istanbul Provincial Chairmanship of the Workers’ Party of Turkey (TİP). In a statement made by the party, it was noted that the decision had not yet been implemented, while it was claimed that the blocking stemmed from statements and publications concerning the “fund embezzlement” allegation.
“IT CONSTITUTES AN ATTACK ON POLITICAL PARTIES”
In the statement made from TİP’s social media account, it was stated that the access ban decisions were learned through social media and had not yet been put into effect. It was stated that when the party examined its statements and publications, it assessed that the decision was linked to its posts that brought up the fund embezzlement allegation.
In the statement, arguing that attempting to block the voice of a political party is contrary to freedoms and the law, it was expressed that this constitutes an attack on political parties.
“THEY ARE TRYING TO SUPPRESS THROUGH PRESSURE, CENSORSHIP AND BANS”
In its statement, TİP also criticized the government, arguing that objections rising from different segments of society are being tried to be suppressed through pressure, censorship and bans. In the party’s statement, it was claimed that the effort to silence critical voices and render social opposition invisible has been turned into a governing practice.
“THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SILENCE THE PEOPLE’S STRUGGLE”
Arguing that the access ban decision is not merely an intervention against a communication channel, TİP stated that it is an attack on the public’s right to receive information, freedom of thought and expression, and democratic politics.
The statement ended with the words, “Your pressures will not work; the people’s struggle will win. We will win.”
