Action taken after school attacks! New era in Parent Appointment System

The Ministry of National Education has expanded the scope of the Parent Appointment System, which was implemented to ensure safer and more planned teacher-parent meetings following school attacks. With the new regulation, schools will be able to create appointments on behalf of parents, SMS and email notifications will be sent for meetings, and an online meeting option will also be added to the system.

The Ministry of National Education (MEB) has expanded the scope of the "Parent Appointment System" to make teacher-parent meetings safer and more organized following incidents in schools, and has enabled schools to create appointments on behalf of parents when necessary.

Following the attacks in schools in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş, after statements by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin about making the "Parent Appointment System" more effective, the changes to be made in the system have been determined.

According to the information obtained, the Ministry has launched a comprehensive study to ensure the safer and more organized conduct of the "Parent Appointment System," which allows appointments to be made via school websites using e-Government credentials for teacher-parent meetings.

Considering that the old system, which depended on parents logging in to the system to create appointments, became limited after the attack incidents, the Ministry made a series of additions. With the newly designed system, it aims to make the parent appointment process more flexible and multi-channel.

In the old system, parents could create appointments based on teachers' availability via e-Government credentials at the website "okulrandevu.meb.gov.tr."

In the new system, the process will still consist of creating an appointment, school approval, and meeting steps, but unlike the current system, application channels will be diversified, schools will be able to create appointments on behalf of parents, and parents will receive notifications through different channels about the process.

THE MINISTRY WILL BE ABLE TO SEE THE MEETING TOPIC

Accordingly, parents will be able to initiate the appointment process not only via "okulrandevu.meb.gov.tr" but also through different channels, including the mobile app of the Parent Information System (VBS) e-Okul VBS Mobile, the School-Parent Assistant (OVA) channel on BiP, and the Ministry of National Education Communication Center (MEBİM).

With the new system, schools will create appointments on behalf of parents when necessary, and parents will receive SMS and email notifications about the appointments.

Additionally, the Ministry will be able to track whether the created appointments are realized and the content of the meeting in terms of the topic.

TEACHERS AND PARENTS WILL BE ABLE TO HAVE ONLINE MEETINGS

MEB aims to take steps to increase the visibility of parents, especially those who are employed or have limited time, on students' education.

In this context, it plans to integrate the option of online meetings between parents and teachers via BiP infrastructure into the new system.
