In an airstrike on the city of Khan Younis last night, 18-month-old baby Kenan Advan lost his life in a house that was reduced to rubble. However, Kenan's story tells much more than just the tale of a destroyed home.
Palestinian journalist Ahmed Advan and his wife lost their baby, whom they had after 18 years through in vitro fertilization, in an Israeli attack just 18 months later. His mother described him as "the light of our home, the spirit of our life." However, a bomb from the Israeli army was enough to extinguish a lifetime of hope.
"I PRAYED FOR 18 YEARS, I HAD 700 INJECTIONS"
Kenan was a miracle that his mother waited for with tears and prayers for 18 years. As she bid farewell to her baby on his final journey, she expressed her anguish with these words: "Was it that easy to take him from me? I cried for 18 years, prayed, and had 700 injections. My son was my life, my heart..."
The mother stated that Kenan's smile illuminated the family's years of darkness and that on the day he was born, not only the house but the entire neighborhood was filled with joy.
GRIEVING FATHER PERFORMED THE FUNERAL PRAYER
Despite the indescribable pain he experienced, father Ahmed Kenan stood tall and performed his son's funeral prayer. The father, who prayed at his child's grave, was consoled by the people of Gaza. The pain experienced by the mother and father burying their child resonated deeply with the local community and on social media.
HUNDREDS OF ACTIVISTS SHARED
As Kenan's story spread rapidly on social media, hundreds of activists shared in the indescribable pain experienced by the mother. Posts made with the hashtags "#KenanAdvan" and "#Gaza" drew attention to the tragedy of children, the most innocent victims of war. Activists shared this painful story as just one of the hundreds of lives lost in Gaza, stating, "A life that came with 700 injections was taken away by a bomb."
Since the attacks by Israel on the Gaza Strip began on October 7, 2023, the number of Palestinians who have lost their lives has risen to 51,157, while the number of injured has reached 116,724.
