Important decisions were made in the administrative investigation conducted after the fight that broke out among students in the boys' dormitory of Istanbul Erkek Lisesi, which sparked public debate. In line with the report of the Ministry of National Education inspectors regarding the incident, which also involved allegations of harassment and threats, severe disciplinary penalties were imposed on the school administration. The principal and four assistant principals had their administrative duties terminated, while various sanctions were decided for some teachers as well.
The investigation conducted after the fight that broke out among students in the boys' dormitory of Istanbul Erkek Lisesi and caused a wide public outcry has been completed. Various disciplinary penalties were imposed on the school administration in line with the report prepared by the inspectors of the Ministry of National Education, while the principal and some administrators had their duties terminated.
SEVERE PUNISHMENT FOR THE PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTANTS
As part of the investigation conducted by the inspectors of the Ministry of National Education, the school principal and 4 assistant principals were given the penalty of "suspension of advancement in rank." Additionally, it was decided that these administrators would have their administrative duties terminated and be reassigned as teachers to other schools.
SALARY DEDUCTION PENALTY FOR SUPERVISING TEACHERS
It was learned that 6 supervising teachers who were on duty during the incident were given a salary deduction penalty as part of the investigation. Furthermore, it was decided to impose a ban on these teachers from holding supervisory positions for up to 3 years.
GUIDANCE TEACHERS ALSO ASSIGNED TO OTHER SCHOOLS
As a result of the investigation, it was reported that 2 guidance teachers, whose duties were evaluated, would also be assigned to other schools.
CRIMINAL COMPLAINT AGAINST ASSOCIATION ADMINISTRATORS
As part of the investigation, an evaluation was also made regarding two members of the board of directors of the Istanbul Erkek Lisesi Alumni Association (İELDER). The inspector's report stated that the actions of these individuals could constitute a criminal offense, and it was decided to prepare a referral report and file a criminal complaint against them.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In a statement made on the social media account of the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education regarding the issue, it was stated that an investigation was conducted by the provincial inspectors assigned by the Istanbul Governorship following allegations that 7 students in the 9th grade at Istanbul Erkek Lisesi were physically attacked by a group of 11th-grade students on November 24, 2025.
In the statement, it was reported that some media outlets had published news about the fight among students in the boys' dormitory of the high school, and it was noted that "after the incident that occurred on November 25, 2025, the health checks of the relevant students were conducted, parents were informed, and it was determined that there was no situation preventing them from continuing their education. The process is being closely monitored by us."
The statement highlighted that the "Student Behavior Evaluation Board" disciplinary process was initiated by the school administration, and it was recorded:
"Preventive guidance meetings and support activities have been initiated by the guidance service and the Provincial Directorate of National Education. The administrative investigation regarding the issue is being conducted by the provincial inspectors assigned by our Governorship. The safety of our students, the peace of the educational environment, and the protection of our children are our primary priorities. In this regard, all necessary processes are being carried out with determination."
THE PRINCIPAL AND VICE PRINCIPAL OF THE SCHOOL SUSPENDED
During the ongoing process taken over by the inspectors of the Ministry of National Education, the principal and vice principal of the high school were suspended.
As part of the investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 3 students had filed complaints regarding the allegation of "assault."
Official letters were sent to law enforcement agencies and relevant institutions to identify any other complaints related to the issue.
After it was determined that some of the students allegedly involved in the incident had gone to different provinces, letters were sent to the relevant chief public prosecutor's offices to ascertain whether complaints had been filed.
20 STUDENTS RECEIVED DISCIPLINARY PUNISHMENTS
In a statement made by the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education regarding the issue, it was stated that the administrative process concerning the incidents had been completed.
The statement indicated that the Fatih District Student Disciplinary Board carefully evaluated the issue by addressing guidance, psychosocial support, and disciplinary processes together, and it was noted that throughout the evaluation process coordinated by the directorate, the psychosocial conditions of the students were closely monitored, and the principles of "protection of their privacy," "presumption of innocence," and "continuation of the right to education without interruption" were adopted as fundamental principles.
The statement pointed out that the disciplinary actions were carried out with an educational, restorative, and therapeutic approach within the framework of the principles of proportionality and balance between act and penalty, and it was shared that "in this context, based on Article 164 of the Regulation on Secondary Education Institutions of the Ministry of National Education, disciplinary penalties were imposed on a total of 20 students involved in systematic violence, including 2 students who were found to have committed 'expulsion from formal education,' 11 students who were given 'school transfer,' and 7 students who received 'short-term suspension from school.'"
The statement also reported that guidance activities at the high school continue to ensure a safe school climate, and all necessary measures to ensure that the educational processes are conducted in a peaceful and healthy manner are being implemented decisively by the school administration.
