In the central Selçuklu district of Konya, a third person was rescued alive during the ongoing search and rescue operations in the four-story building that collapsed last night, after seven hours of efforts. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that efforts are continuing to reach the other two individuals in the building safely. Four people have also been detained in connection with the collapsed building.

Last night around 8:00 PM, a three-story building collapsed in the central Selçuklu district of Konya.

While the search and rescue teams dispatched to the scene continue their efforts for the people trapped under the rubble, a positive development occurred around the 7th hour of the operations.

ONE MORE PERSON RESCUED

Following the rescue of two individuals, as a result of the ongoing efforts, one more person was safely pulled from the rubble. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated in a social media post that efforts are continuing to reach the other two individuals in the building safely.

962 PERSONNEL ARE ON DUTY IN THE AREA

In his post, Yerlikaya stated: "With the outstanding efforts of AFAD, Fire Department, Police, Gendarmerie, Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Ministry of Family and Social Services, 112, UMKE, Red Crescent, AKUT, and our NGOs, we have just rescued the 3rd person safely from the rubble. Our search and rescue operations are continuing with great effort. Our prayer is to reach the other 2 individuals in the building safely. Currently, a total of 962 personnel and 216 vehicles are on duty in the incident area."

THE HEALTH CONDITIONS OF THE 3 PEOPLE RESCUED FROM THE RUBBLE ARE GOOD

In a post on the official social media account of the Konya Governorship, the following statements were made regarding the individuals rescued from the collapsed building and the ongoing efforts: "Out of the 5 people trapped under the rubble, 3 have been rescued safely, they have been transferred to the hospital, and their health conditions are good. Search and rescue efforts for the 2 individuals still trapped under the rubble are ongoing."

12 OUT OF 14 APARTMENTS ARE EMPTY

Konya Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay shared information on his social media account that 12 out of the 14 apartments in the collapsed building were empty. Altay stated, "Our search and rescue operations are continuing in the collapsed building. The building is not part of urban transformation; it is a building with occupancy permits. There has been no complaint or application made to the official institutions regarding the building. Based on the statements of eyewitnesses and our findings, we believe that 12 out of the 14 apartments are empty."
