After his statement regarding the Strait of Hormuz, in which US President Donald Trump said they could strike Oman 'if they came across them,' he has now targeted South Korea. Trump stated that they have spent billions of dollars defending South Korea against North Korea, but expressed discomfort that the country refused to support them while they were fighting Iran, saying, 'We have 29,000 troops to protect you from Kim Jong-un, but won't you support us in an operation in Iran? This is very strange.'
US President Donald Trump made statements regarding the Iran agenda following a press conference held in the Oval Office.
US WILL NOT EXTEND THE AGREEMENT
Trump answered "No" to the question of whether the 60-day framework agreement with Iran, which expires today, would be extended.
When asked whether they could reach a final agreement with Iran, the US President said, "They want to make a deal, but they won't make the kind of deal I deem necessary."
Trump stated that regarding Iran's nuclear program, they have not yet reached the point he wants on accepting the terms the US deems necessary, and emphasized the message that "under no circumstances can Tehran possess a nuclear weapon."
"WE CAN DEAL WITH OMAN VERY EASILY"
Trump, referring to his statement that they could strike Oman if it "gets in their way" regarding the Strait of Hormuz, said that this country is not a problem for them.
To the question of whether his patience with Oman had run out, Trump replied, "No, but I don't think they have been behaving very well, but as with other matters, we can deal with them very easily."
STRAIT OF HORMUZ: I THINK IT'S A GREAT IDEA
US President Trump stated that he really likes the idea of considering the Strait of Hormuz as US territory and supports it, saying, "I think it's a great idea."
Trump argued that the US has complete control over the strait and that the naval blockade on Iranian ports is working very well.
ALSO CRITICIZED SOUTH KOREA
Trump argued that for many years they have spent billions of dollars militarily protecting South Korea against North Korea but have not received anything in return.
"We spend billions of dollars to protect South Korea, the same is true for NATO, we spend hundreds of billions of dollars to protect Europe from Russia," said Trump, adding that when he called the South Korean leader to ask for support for the US in the war with Iran, he received a "No" answer.
"I said, wait a minute. We have 29,000 troops there to protect you from your neighbor Kim Jong-un, but won't you help us in a very easy military operation in Iran? That's very strange," Trump said, expressing that they were saddened by Seoul's attitude.

Trump, stating that he has a good relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and that Kim respects him, said, "I understand him, and he understands me. He doesn't like many people; he didn't like Biden and Obama, but he has a good relationship with me."
Trump, implying that North Korea was "not a major threat" to South Korea during his presidency, defended his decision to reduce joint military exercises with Seoul.
