One day after killing his brother Muhammet Pekdemir and his father Süleyman Pekdemir in the Tavas district of Denizli, Kadir Pekdemir, who set the house on fire and fled, was arrested. It was learned that the defendant chillingly stated, "I waited for them to die. I left the house, went to a café, drank tea, and chatted with my friends." Those who saw the flames rising from the single-story detached house belonging to Süleyman Pekdemir in the rural Aydoğdu neighborhood of Tavas reported it around 8:00 PM the previous day. Following this, health, fire, and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. The flames quickly grew and engulfed the entire house. Firefighters extinguished the flames after about an hour of work. The fire crew that entered found the burned bodies of Süleyman Pekdemir and his son Muhammet Pekdemir. Gendarmerie teams conducted a detailed investigation in the house. After the examination by the Public Prosecutor, the bodies of the father and son were taken to the morgue of the Forensic Medicine Denizli Regional Directorate for autopsy. The gendarmerie determined that Kadir Pekdemir had killed his brother and father with a shotgun the previous day, spent the night by the bodies, and then set the house on fire before going to Kızılca neighborhood, where he drank tea in a café, and later moved to the Tavas district. The gendarmerie captured and detained Kadir Pekdemir. COURT ISSUED A DETENTION ORDERIn his first statement, Kadir Pekdemir said that he asked his father and brother for money, and after receiving a negative response, he set the house on fire and fled. Later, during a cross-examination, Pekdemir stated that he went to the house with the shotgun he had with him last Sunday, saying, "I received instructions from above. Before going home, I checked whether the shotgun was jammed or not. Then I shot my father and brother. I waited for them to die. I left the house, went to a café, drank tea, and chatted with my friends. When I returned on Monday evening, I set the house on fire. Then I fled the scene." After his procedures at the gendarmerie, Kadir Pekdemir was brought to court today, where he was arrested. Meanwhile, the bodies of Süleyman Pekdemir and his son Muhammet Pekdemir, which were delivered to their relatives after the autopsy conducted yesterday, were buried side by side in the Aydoğdu neighborhood cemetery.
