Following the decision to detain 47 individuals, including 5 mayors, as part of the investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), the CHP (Republican People's Party) has decided to hold an extraordinary meeting at the Istanbul Provincial Headquarters.
As part of the investigation into the "corruption" allegations against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the 5th wave operation has begun.
In 4 different investigations, a detention order has been issued for 47 people, including Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün, Gaziosmanpaşa Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe, Avcılar Mayor Utku Caner Çaykara, Adana Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar, Adana Seyhan Mayor Oya Tekin, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Erdal Celal Aksoy, CHP Central Executive Committee member Baki Aydöner, and former CHP Member of Parliament Aykut Erdoğdu. 30 of the individuals subject to the detention order have been apprehended.
PARTY CONVENES EXTRAORDINARY MEETING
Following the operation, the CHP has decided to hold an extraordinary meeting in Istanbul. CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik announced that a meeting will be held with members of parliament, Central Executive Committee and Disciplinary Committee members, district chairpersons, mayors, provincial administrators, and the heads of women's and youth branches, as well as the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality group management.
