A mathematics engineer in Beşiktaş stabbed his bartender friend to death multiple times with a bread knife. Later, he went to the police station and surrendered. In his statement, the engineer said, "I remember the moment I committed the act, but I don't remember why I did it."

A brutal incident occurred on Friday, May 30, in an apartment located on Ihlamur Yıldız Street in the Abbasağa neighborhood of Beşiktaş, Istanbul. According to the information obtained, Zilif Öztürk (39) went to the house of Demet Çabuk (34).

KILLED HIS FRIEND WITH A BREAD KNIFE

It is alleged that the duo used drugs, and Demet Çabuk went to the kitchen, took a bread knife, and stabbed Öztürk more than 10 times in the abdomen. After the incident, Çabuk left the house with the murder weapon, the knife, and went to Kocaeli to be with her family.

WENT TO THE POLICE STATION AND CONFESSED

The suspect Çabuk went to a police station in Çayırbaşı, Kocaeli, the day after the incident, on Saturday, May 31, and surrendered with the murder weapon, the knife. Following Çabuk's confession that she killed her roommate, the teams acted and broke down the door at the address in Beşiktaş. Upon arrival, the police found the lifeless body of Zilif Öztürk.

"I DON'T REMEMBER WHY I DID IT"

After her statement, the suspect Demet Çabuk was referred to the courthouse by the Istanbul Police Department's Homicide Bureau for the crime of "intentional murder." It was learned that Çabuk stated in her testimony, "I remember the moment I committed the act, but I don't remember why I did it. I regret it."

On the other hand, it was learned that the suspect Demet Çabuk studied mathematics engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and was also doing a double major, while the deceased Zilif Öztürk worked as a bartender.
