Haydar Altıntaş, the İzmir Member of Parliament from the Democratic Party, who voted against in the commission's vote, will inform the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey today that he is withdrawing from the commission.

HAYDAR ALTINTAŞ RESIGNED FROM THE COMMISSION The first resignation news came today from the commission, which decided to go to İmralı with 32 votes. Haydar Altıntaş, the İzmir Deputy of the Democratic Party (DP), who voted against in the commission's vote, will inform the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey about his resignation from the commission.
"DEEP SORROWS WERE EXPERIENCED ON İMRALI ISLAND" Commission member Haydar Altıntaş stated in an interview with Sözcü Newspaper; "As a result of the evaluation we made with our General Chairman Gültekin Uysal, we decided to withdraw from the commission. Deep sorrows were experienced on İmralı Island in the past and it still remains fresh in our memories."

Altıntaş noted that unimaginable demands have emerged during the process, stating, "These demands are being listed, and the right of sovereignty of the nation is being discussed. Discussions are being initiated about education in the mother tongue and transforming the unitary state into a federal state with a decentralized governance style."

WHO IS HAYDAR ALTINTAŞ? A Turkish businessman and politician. He graduated from the Eskişehir Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences in 1973. Since 1977, he has been running his own business in Balıkesir. Altıntaş, who played an active role as a district and provincial chairman in the True Path Party, also served as a municipal council member in Balıkesir for two terms between 1989-1999.
He has held the position of deputy chairman, member of the General Administrative Board in the Democratic Party, and was a candidate for deputy in the 2007 elections. Elected as İzmir Deputy in the elections on May 14, 2023, Altıntaş currently serves as the Deputy Chairman and member of the General Administrative Board (GİK) of the Democratic Party. He is married and a father of one child.
