After Fenerbahçe defeated Liverpool 3-2 in the Champions League, Rıdvan Dilmen made assessments and said he saw the yellow-navy Blues' chances of finishing in the top 24 as 70-80 percent. Also drawing attention to the importance of the Çorum FK match, Dilmen said, "You won the Liverpool match, but points dropped in Çorum mean throwing in the towel in the league."
Commentator Rıdvan Dilmen, evaluating on TV8 the match in which Fenerbahçe defeated Liverpool 3-2 at home in the UEFA Champions League, made striking statements about the yellow-navy Blues' future in Europe and their chances in the Super Lig.
"THE CHANCE OF MAKING THE TOP 24 IS 70-80 PERCENT"
Evaluating Fenerbahçe's chances of continuing on their way in the Champions League, Dilmen said, "Frankly, I see Fenerbahçe's chance of making the top 24 in the Champions League as 70 percent, 80 percent."
Referring also to the 5 points the yellow-navy Blues collected in their first four matches, the experienced commentator used the expressions, "One of the worst matches is the Shakhtar match to be played in London. Actually, when we look at it, 6-0 is a bad score, but I think 5 points from the first 4 matches is not very bad."
"DROPPING POINTS IN ÇORUM IS THROWING IN THE TOWEL IN THE LEAGUE"
Emphasizing that after the Liverpool victory the Çorum FK match was of critical importance, Dilmen stated that a possible loss of points by Fenerbahçe in this match could negatively affect the team's psychology. Saying that he thought the yellow-navy Blues had not fallen out of the title race, Dilmen used the following expressions:
"This is not just a story of making the top 24 in the Champions League. In order for there to be a return to life—and I say this by underlining it once again—the Çorum match must be won. It is such a psychological match that in a possible loss of points you would give up holding on again. You won the Liverpool match, but dropping points in Çorum means throwing in the towel in the league. I never think they have thrown in the towel."
HE COMPARED LUKAKU WITH MURIQI
Rıdvan Dilmen also made an assessment about Fenerbahçe's forwards Romelu Lukaku and Vedat Muriqi. Comparing the performances of the two footballers, Dilmen commented, "Right now I see Lukaku as ahead. Let me tell you my personal opinion; I would say Vedat Muriqi at 55 to 45 percent."
