The framework law proposal submitted to Parliament with the signatures of 360 deputies to form the legal basis for the Türkiye Without Terrorism process saw MHP Istanbul Deputy İzzet Ulvi Yönter, who notably did not sign, break his silence on social media. Yönter's successive reproachful posts stirred political circles.
STRIKING OMISSION IN THE PROPOSAL WHOSE FIRST SIGNATURE BELONGS TO BAHÇELİ
In the law proposal, which MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli signed first and which was expected to receive full support from the MHP group, attention turned to an important figure. According to information reported by journalist Nergis Demirkaya, İzzet Ulvi Yönter, who resigned from his post as MHP Deputy Chairman in recent months but continues his parliamentary tenure in the party, did not sign the proposal.
CONSECUTIVE MESSAGES ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Immediately after the signature crisis was reflected in the press, striking statements came one after another from İzzet Ulvi Yönter. In his first post on the social media platform, Yönter emphasized his commitment to his cause and used the following words:
"I have one life; let it be sacrificed for the homeland, the nation, the state, and my cause..."
Soon after this message, Yönter published another text, and his reproachful and reactionary words left a mark on the political agenda:
"Let no one forget, even the ant has an owner... The order of injustice, the mechanisms of lies and slander will one day collapse. Tyranny never goes unpunished... May Allah keep us safe from what we fear and grant us what we hope for, inshallah. Blessed Friday to all..."
STATEMENT FROM MHP
Following İzzet Ulvi Yönter's failure to sign, MHP Deputy Group Chairman Erkan Akçay issued a statement saying, "After our esteemed Chairman placed the first signature on the Law Proposal on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Cohesion, our Nationalist Movement Party TBMM Group signed it together with all our deputies. The news appearing in some media outlets today claiming that a deputy did not sign the relevant law proposal does not reflect the truth. The deputy in question is not participating in parliamentary activities due to health issues and is on official leave."
MARCH RESIGNATION PROCESS BACK ON THE AGENDA
This latest development has revived discussions about Yönter's sudden resignation on March 27. At that time, Yönter had announced his departure from his administrative role in a social media statement, saying, "I resign from my post as MHP Deputy Chairman as I see fit."
While claims of an internal party crisis intensified after the resignation, MHP Leader Devlet Bahçeli personally addressed the issue. Bahçeli stated that Yönter had asked for his permission to focus on academic work and noted that there was no resentment or grudge. However, the missing signature on the law proposal and the subsequent suggestive messages have reignited debates about internal party dynamics.
