On the other hand, China called on the Washington administration, as a country with special influence over Israel, to act responsibly in response to US President Donald Trump's statement that they "will not eliminate" Iranian leader Ali Khamenei "for now" and his unconditional surrender call to Iran.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Ciakun responded to a question regarding Trump's message shared on the social media platform Truth Social at a press conference held in Beijing.
Expressing deep concern over the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel, Spokesperson Guo stated that they oppose the violation of a country's sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, which is contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter.
Guo emphasized that the further escalation of tensions in the Middle East is not in anyone's interest, stating, "The country with special influence over Israel should adopt a fair and objective stance, act responsibly, and play a positive and constructive role in reducing tensions and preventing the spread of conflict."
US President Trump, in a post on his Truth Social account, had stated regarding Iranian leader Khamenei, "We know exactly where he is hiding. He is an easy target but safe there. We will not eliminate him, at least for now."
Later, in another post, Trump referred to Iran, stating "Unconditional surrender."
CHINA EVACUATES ITS CITIZENS
Meanwhile, China announced that it has evacuated its citizens in Iran and Israel due to the deteriorating security situation caused by Israel's attacks on Iran and Iran's retaliation.
