The UK Ministry of Defence announced yesterday that a joint airstrike was carried out with US forces against Houthi targets in Yemen.
MILITARY PRODUCTION FACILITIES TARGETED
In a statement from the ministry, it was noted that the attack targeted the Houthis' military production facilities, stating, "As a result of meticulous intelligence analysis, a cluster of buildings was identified approximately 15 miles south of Sana, where drones of the type used in attacks on ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden by the Houthis were produced."
PRECISION GUIDED BOMBS USED
In the statement, it was reported that Typhoon FGR4 fighter jets refueling from Voyager tankers struck the mentioned targets with Paveway IV type precision guided bombs, stating, "Careful planning was conducted to ensure that the targets could be struck in a way that minimizes the risk to civilians or non-military infrastructure. As an additional precaution, the attack was carried out at night when the likelihood of civilians being present in the area was further reduced. All our aircraft then returned safely to their bases."
The attack was emphasized to be in line with the UK government's policies, aimed at weakening the capabilities of the Houthis, who have threatened freedom of navigation in the Red Sea since November 2023, attacked international vessels, and caused the deaths of innocent sailors.
