Former Minister of Interior and AK Party Istanbul MP Süleyman Soylu made a striking statement, emphasizing the importance of mosques and religious values in the spiritual fabric of society. Soylu said, "Decay is attributed to the West, not to us. No one can corrupt this country."

Former Minister of Interior and AK Party Istanbul MP Süleyman Soylu drew attention to the importance of mosques and religious values in the spiritual structure of society and said, “If you do not erect your own dome in the middle of the city, the false domes of the age will cover our children’s sky.”

SOYLU: WHAT HAPPENS IN FRANCE IS A REFLECTION OF DECAY

Former Minister of Interior and AK Party Istanbul MP Süleyman Soylu spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Bayrampaşa Yeşil Mosque and Qur’an Course Complex. Saying that the events in France are a reflection of the West’s lack of spirituality and its decay, Soylu said, “What happens in France is not a material uprising or a fight to grab space, but a reflection of the West’s centuries-long lack of spirituality and decay.”

“DECAY CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO THE WEST, NOT TO US”

Stating that religious values and national consciousness are kept alive in Turkey, Soylu said that children are raised in a country where the call to prayer is recited five times a day, and that they start their education life with the National Anthem at schools and complete the day again with the National Anthem. Soylu said, “Decay is attributed to the West, not to us. No one can cause this country to decay.”

Expressing that he knows closely both the old Turkey and today’s Turkey, Soylu also shared an anecdote he experienced after the February 28 process. Soylu said, “When I was the Istanbul Provincial Chairman of the True Path Party, I have not forgotten the days after February 28 when I thought, ‘Where will I have my child read the Elif Ba?’”

“CONDEMNING THE ENTIRE SOCIETY LEADS TO GREAT DESTRUCTION”

Emphasizing that wrongs in society should be criticized but individual mistakes should not be attributed to the entire society, Soylu said, “We will of course criticize wrongs. However, condemning the entire society by generalizing a wrong leads to destruction as great as that wrong, to the destruction of society. God forbid.”

Stating that the mosques built in Istanbul carry a spiritual bond with the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, Soylu said, “Every mosque foundation laid in Istanbul is in truth a new shoot of Hagia Sophia rising from the soil. Because Hagia Sophia is the mother’s womb of these lands, our lands, and the qibla clock.”
