Google yesterday announced the support of Google Chrome and Google Drive on Apple devices at the Google I/O 2012 Conference in San Francisco.

Yesterday marked the second day of the annual Google Input/Output Conference, Google has released a host of new products and updates.

Google offering its products on Apple devices comes in the wake of the many lawsuits that Apple has filed against smartphones that use Google's mobile operating system Android including manufacturers like Samsung and HTC.

The late Steve Jobbs was also previously reported to have vowed to use all of Apple's earnings to bring down Android.

According to a post by Sundar Pichai, SVP, Chrome & Apps there are currently over 2.3 billion internet users across the world which amounts to approximately one third of the entire global population.

Chrome was built from the ground for a modern web Pichai posted noting it had also seen a double in usage numbers compared to last year.

"Chrome has nearly doubled since last year's I/O—from 160 million to 310 million active users around the world. Today most people use multiple computers, smartphones and tablets. With that trend in mind, our goal is to offer you a consistent, personalized web experience across all devices," Pichai said.

Brian Rakowski the Vice President for Chrome at Google made the official announcement at the Google I/O Conference.

Rakowski speaking to a hushed audience, "Some of you have been very persistent in asking for one thing in particular and before we agreed to do it we wanted to make sure that we did an excellent job of it, am very happy to say that the team has pulled something really great out."

"People have been asking, you've been asking to use Chrome on your iPhone," Rakowski announced to applause. Rakowski also noted Chrome would be available in the Apple app store later that day.

At the event Google also announced the availability of Google Drive to Apple devices; Drive is Google's version of cloud based storage which is similar to other services like Dropbox.

"Ten weeks ago we launched Drive and in 10 weeks, more than 10 million users have signed up," posted Pichai.

"Today we introduced more capabilities, including offline editing for Google documents and a Drive app for your iPhone and iPad. Drive is also seamlessly integrated into Chrome OS."
