It was confirmed by AK Party sources that Abdullah Öcalan, leader of the terrorist organization PKK, was moved to a new area prepared for him inside İmralı Prison. It was stated that the new arrangement was made to enable Öcalan to meet with academics, journalists, and representatives of civil society organizations, and it was expressed that the meetings could begin in the coming days.

The information that Abdullah Öcalan, leader of the terrorist organization PKK, was transferred to a new area in İmralı Prison where he is being held, was confirmed by AK Party sources. Speaking to BBC Turkish, government representatives emphasized that the new area is part of the prison and stated that the arrangement was made to provide suitable conditions for meetings to be held within the scope of the ongoing process.

"NOT A VILLA OR PRIVATE RESIDENCE"

While confirming that Öcalan was moved to a new area within İmralı Prison, AK Party sources opposed describing it as a villa or private residence. Stating that the area in question is part of the prison, government representatives expressed that the arrangement was made so that Öcalan could hold meetings with different segments.

An AK Party official explained the reason for preparing the new area with the words, "He will not hold these meetings in the execution room. There needed to be a place where he could meet more comfortably."

MEETINGS WITH ACADEMICS AND JOURNALISTS CAN BE HELD

According to AK Party sources, it is on the agenda for Öcalan to hold meetings in the coming days with academics, journalists and representatives of civil society organizations that can contribute to the process.

While the meetings are planned to be held in the newly prepared area, there is not yet a finalized schedule regarding who will participate and when the visits will begin.

"THERE IS NO DEADLOCK IN THE PROCESS"

Speaking to BBC Turkish, AK Party representatives also opposed DEM Party's assessments that there was a deadlock and slowdown in the process.

Arguing that work on disarmament and the dissolution of the organization with all its components is continuing, government sources stated that due to security reasons, not all details of the process can be shared with the public.

An AK Party official said, "We are talking about a terrorist organization laying down its arms and a structure being dissolved with all its components. This is not something that will happen in everyone's sight."

"ONLY 2.5 MONTHS HAVE PASSED SINCE THE LAW"

Evaluating criticism that there has been a delay in the implementation of the process, AK Party sources noted that only 2.5 months have passed since the relevant law entered into force.

Government representatives argued that the work is continuing as planned, saying, "Only 2.5 months have passed since the law entered into force, why would there be a delay?"
