Akçakoca Municipality switched to AK Party, fight broke out after the election

CHP member Akçakoca Mayor Fikret Albayrak was arrested on charges of 'embezzlement', and after being suspended from duty by the Ministry of Interior within the scope of an investigation for 'extortion through coercion', AK Party candidate Alev Ünal was elected as the acting mayor. The hall descended into chaos after the election. A verbal argument among council members turned into a physical altercation. The brawl was barely contained, and the moments were captured on camera.

An election for the acting mayor was held in Akçakoca Municipality of Düzce. The municipal council convened an extraordinary session after incumbent Mayor Fikret Albayrak was arrested on charges of extortion.

ALEV ÜNAL ELECTED ACTING MAYOR

The election for the acting mayor took place in the Akçakoca Municipality Council hall. Alev Ünal from the AK Party and Naim Top from the CHP were nominated. In the secret ballot, Naim Top received 6 votes and Alev Ünal received 9 votes, making Alev Ünal the acting mayor of Akçakoca Municipality.
