In Istanbul's Sancaktepe district, Nuray Kalıncı, a mother of two, shot and killed her ex-husband Hakan Büyükata, who had been released from prison a month earlier after their divorce 14 years ago. The woman, who claimed she shot her ex-husband due to his endless violent tendencies towards her and their children, was taken into custody. A comprehensive judicial investigation is ongoing into the horrifying incident, where sounds of the fight were also heard by neighbors.
In Istanbul's Sancaktepe district, Nuray Kalıncı (46), a mother of two, shot and killed her ex-husband Hakan Büyükata (47), who had recently been released from prison and whom she divorced 14 years ago, with a gun at her home. Taken into custody after the incident, Kalıncı stated in her initial statement that her ex-husband had subjected her and her children to violence.
RELEASED FROM PRISON, SPREADING TERROR
The incident occurred on Saturday, May 30, in a three-story building on Fatih Street in Sancaktepe. According to available information, Hakan Büyükata, who had been released from prison a month ago, came to the home of his ex-wife Nuray Kalıncı, whom he divorced 14 years ago. An argument began between the two for an unknown reason and quickly escalated. During the argument, Nuray Kalıncı, who was assaulted by her ex-husband, fired a firearm at Büyükata.
SHE SOUGHT REFUGE WITH NEIGHBORS AFTER THE MURDER
While Hakan Büyükata, hit by the bullets, collapsed to the ground in a pool of blood, Nuray Kalıncı immediately went to her neighbors and explained the situation. Upon notification from local residents, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. In the initial examination by medical teams at the apartment, it was determined that Büyükata had lost his life. Police teams took extensive security measures around the building, and the female suspect was taken into custody at the scene and brought to the police station.
HER INITIAL STATEMENT EMERGED: "HE WAS USING VIOLENCE"
It was learned that the sounds of shouting and fighting coming from the apartment on the day of the incident were also heard by the neighbors. It was reported that in her initial statement at the police station, murder suspect Nuray Kalıncı said that her ex-husband came to them after being released from prison, constantly subjected her and her children to violence, and that the incident occurred due to this cycle of violence.
The body of Hakan Büyükata, whose autopsy procedures at the Forensic Medicine Institute were completed, was sent to his hometown of Yozgat for burial. A comprehensive investigation into the incident continues.
