"Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu's brother has become a victim of a doctor."

22.10.2024 11:00

The singer Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu, who gained fame from the Survivor competition, made some highly controversial claims about her disabled brother. Kalaycıoğlu stated that her brother is in this condition due to medical negligence, saying, "For the first time in Turkey's history, there are 8 forensic medical reports in my brother's file."

Aleyna Kalaycıoğlu, known for her participation in the Survivor competition and her recent songs, shared a scandalous case of medical negligence on her social media account. Kalaycıoğlu explained that her sister Cansu became disabled due to a doctor's negligence and shared the process they went through. Her posts received great interest from her followers and quickly became a trending topic on social media.

Stating that her sister's life was turned upside down due to negligence after the surgery, Kalaycıoğlu wrote, "I will fight for my sister's rights until she dies," and added: "Now that we are talking about hospitals and so-called (!) doctors who can ruin people's entire lives with a single move, let me explain the inner wound I feel every time I look at my sister."

"SHE ALWAYS WANTED SWEETS"

In 2013, we were at our summer house with Cansu; at that time, she had no disabilities and was a normal, healthy individual like you. She was a bit chubby. Towards the middle of the summer, she started to lose some weight, but at the same time, she kept saying she wanted sweets, always craving sweet food.

"SHE'S ALWAYS SLEEPING"

When I saw the weight Cansu lost in a week (while constantly eating sweets), I took her to the hospital. My father came at that time, but he didn't pay attention. During this process, Cansu was always sleeping and still wanted to consume sugar. Even though my father was there, he did not take any action to take my sister to the hospital.

"WE WENT TO MY MOTHER"

I was about 15 years old at that time. I took Cansu to the hospital by carrying her alone. The two hospitals I took her to in Akçay did not help, saying it was psychological and sent us away. Finally, my mother said, "Come quickly, I will take Cansu." I took Cansu, we got on the bus, and came to Istanbul. Even though my mother saw Cansu, she asked me where my sister was. Cansu had lost so much weight that she was unrecognizable. We rushed to a hospital in Ataşehir, and each hospital gave a different diagnosis. In the end, I cannot name the last one (the legal process is still ongoing, and it will almost be 12 years).

"SHE COULDN'T WAKE UP FOR TWO DAYS"

We went to a semi-private hospital that night. The incident happened on the night of Kadir. The doctor tried to perform an emergency treatment on my sister because he was going on vacation that night. He was in a hurry because he would be leaving with his beloved wife and children a few hours later (!). He said her appendix burst and took her for surgery. (However, the X-ray and reports only indicated thickening of the appendix.) Anyway, he said the appendix burst and took her for surgery. Cansu came out of surgery, and we were all waiting. The doctor said she needed to consume sugar, so we fed her fruit. Cansu couldn't wake up for almost two days and got worse. Then, they finally thought to check her sugar, and it turned out my sister had been in a coma with a blood sugar level of 500 for days.

"MY FATHER HAD LONG BEEN GONE"

Cansu was rushed to intensive care. The so-called doctor returned from vacation. My sister's heart had stopped for 70 minutes; it was too late for everything. More than 70% of her brain was damaged. Even if she survived, they estimated she would only live for a few months. During that process, she would be bedridden, unable to see, speak, or move. They asked my mother questions to pull the plug; can you believe that? They said she was going to die anyway. We were left alone with my mother, and we looked into each other's eyes. My father had long been gone...

"MY SISTER IS IN THIS CONDITION DUE TO DOCTOR NEGLIGENCE"

My mother cried and said, "I can bring Cansu back to life; just give me my child." I still remember that moment. That process was spent in intensive care. After school, I would go to the hospital to see if Cansu was still breathing. My adolescence was very difficult. I cried every day at school, wondering why. Anyway, I won't prolong it; we brought my sister back from the hospital in this condition, even though I took her in perfectly healthy. Now she cannot see, speak, or move, etc. So Cansu was not born this way, friends. My sister is in this condition due to a doctor's negligence!

"FOR THE FIRST TIME IN TURKEY'S HISTORY..."

These are my last sentences; for the first time in Turkey's history, there are 8 forensic reports in my sister's file. The criminal case was concluded in 2018, and the penalties for 3 doctors and the hospital for causing bodily harm have been finalized. However, although the legal case for the health services my sister needs for life was concluded in 2021, the appellate court has sided with the defendants and deliberately withdrew the case. I condemn the judges who have disregarded my sister's rights and tampered with the case for favors. I will initiate legal proceedings against the hospital and the involved doctors whose names I cannot disclose for now. I will hold accountable the system that deprived my sister of her rights, left her bedridden for life, and has been fighting for justice for 12 years. I call out to the university hospitals that disregard the 8 forensic reports. I will hold all the doctors involved in the report accountable for my sister Cansu Tutuş. I am waiting for the final hearing. Why have the reports not been sent for years? Why have we been waiting for 12 years? The fire burns where it falls. I hope everyone who caused my sister to be in this condition and prolonged this process experiences a thousand times what we have gone through. But I will fight for my sister's rights until I die."
