A dispute between a driver and a police officer in Iğdır has been taken to court. Security camera footage of the incident has emerged, where the driver, claiming he was assaulted and unfairly fined 180 thousand lira, and the police officer, alleging he was attacked, have filed mutual complaints. Judicial and administrative investigations into the incident are ongoing.
The repercussions of the incident between driver Arda T. and police officer İbrahim B. in Iğdır continue. While the judicial and administrative process regarding the incident, in which both parties have filed complaints against each other, is ongoing, the events were captured on security camera footage.
According to the claim, the incident occurred on Uluçınar Street in the Bağlar neighborhood. Arda T., who was driving his vehicle, stopped when police officer İbrahim B. called out to him. An argument broke out between the parties over the allegation that the driver did not yield at a pedestrian crossing.
ALLEGATION: "HE PULLED ME OUT OF THE CAR AND PUNCHED ME"
Arda T. claimed that the police officer approached his vehicle, spoke to him, then opened the door, pulled him out of the car, and punched him multiple times.
Stating that he was taken to the police station after the incident, Arda T. alleged that he was issued an administrative fine of 180,000 lira, his driver's license was confiscated, and the vehicle belonging to his client was impounded, on the grounds that he got out of his car and attacked the other party. Arda T. also said that his tooth was broken and that he had bruises on his body due to the incident.
POLICE OFFICER: HE ATTACKED ME
Police officer İbrahim B., on the other hand, presented a different claim in his statement. The police officer, stating that he was trying to cross the road with his family, alleged that the vehicle coming from the wrong lane nearly hit him, the driver did not yield to pedestrians, and got out of the car and attacked him. İbrahim B. stated that he responded in self-defense and filed a complaint against the driver.
SECURITY CAMERA FOOTAGE REVEALED
Security camera recordings related to the incident have also emerged. The footage shows the police officer calling out to the driver, then approaching the vehicle, speaking, and opening the door. The recordings also capture the moment a punch was thrown as the driver tried to get out of the car. Additionally, the footage drew attention to moments when the police officer seemed to take a guard stance as if in a boxing ring.
