Amedspor Club President Nahit Eren made a statement regarding Mauro Icardi, whom Galatasaray parted ways with, and denied the transfer rumors.
As one of the new teams in the Süper Lig, Amedspor's transfer preparations for the new season are in full swing, and club president Nahit Eren made important statements. Speaking to İlke TV, Eren put an end to the claims that world-famous striker Mauro Icardi, who parted ways with Galatasaray, would transfer to Amedspor.
''ICARDI IS NOT ON OUR AGENDA''
Denying the Icardi rumors that caused a stir on social media and in the sports community, President Nahit Eren stated that they are not interested in the Argentine star, saying, "We have forward candidates whom we believe will make a name for themselves at least as much as Icardi in the future. Therefore, Mauro Icardi is not on our agenda at the moment. We have ongoing negotiations with players, and hopefully, we will complete our new transfer within a day or two."
THE SQUAD IS BEING BUILT FROM SCRATCH
Eren also touched upon the radical changes in the team and the challenges they face, reminding that they have to operate within the transfer limits set by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF). Stating that they will continue with very few players from last season's squad in line with the technical director's report, the president said, "Almost all of our foreign players' contracts have expired, or we had to part ways due to age criteria. The number of local players we will keep in the squad is also very limited. In short, we are building the squad almost from scratch to create a dynamic team. Finding ready-made players with free transfers is very difficult this period, so we are forced to pay transfer fees for players. While this provides a sporting advantage, it challenges us in terms of transfer limits due to both transfer costs and player salaries."
